Potato & Parsnip Au Gratin - FRENCH

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease a baking dish with melted butter and garlic
Add a layer of potatoes, and season with salt and pepper
Sprinkle with small amount of thyme leaves and dust with cheese
Spoon some creme fraiche over potatoes
Add a layer of parsnips, and season with salt and pepper
Add another layer of potatoes, seasoning, thyme, cheese, creme fraiche, parsnips and seasoning
Add a third layer of potatoes and seasoning
Add chicken broth
Spread remaining creme fraiche
Add cayenne and dust with cheese
Bake for 45 - 60 minutes until done
Ingredients
1 tbsp melted butter2 cloves garlic, minced3 Yukon gold potatoes (about 1 1/2 pounds total), slice with a mandoline2 smaller parsnips (about 12 ounces total), sliced with a peelersalt and pepper to taste1 tsp fresh thyme leaves3/4 cup crème fraiche1 cup chicken broth2 ounces Parmigiano-Reggiano, finely gratedcayenne to taste
