Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Cover beef with water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove and cut into bite-size pieces.
  5. Prepare Stewing Sauce by mixing wine, soy sauce, sugar, star anise, oil, pepper, beef broth, and hoisin sauce.
  6. Heat oil, garlic, and ginger in a wok over HIGH heat for 15 seconds.
  7. Add beef and stir-fry for a few seconds.
  8. Add Stewing Sauce and mix well.
  9. Place carrots and beef with sauce in a casserole dish; cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
